Obituary for James M. Pretti

James Michael Pretti, 77, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on December 17, 2021, after a battle with ALS. Jim was born on September 10, 1944, to John and Julia Pretti in St Clair, Pennsylvania. Graduated from St. Clair High School in 1962.

After graduation, he moved to Wallingford, Connecticut and landed a job as a Lab Technician for American Cyanamid/Cytec where he worked for 43 years. During that time, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he proudly served from 1965 to 1967. In 1969, he met Dianne, The love of his life, and they wed on February 14, 1970, going on to have 2 children, Jim Jr. and Michelle.

Jim was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of Jim Jr., Michelle, and Dianne, and always tried his best to support them. Jim was also passionate about many things. Woodworking, RVing, benchrest rifle shooting, golf and wine. He loved being around people and having great conversations. Always willing to help a friend out in anyway he could.

Jim was predeceased by his brother Jack Pretti. He is survived by his wife Dianne, son Jim Jr. and wife Christine, grandchildren, Nathan and Mitchell. Daughter, Michelle and her husband Rick Calpitano. Sister, Nancy Harris and her children Ron, Lori and Jimmy. Jack Pretti's son Jackie and daughter, Barbara.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to ALS Association.
